Long Hair Salon Services
Have you ever had the following story happen? You have long hair and are ready for an updo or “long hair” service and you go to a full service salon and find that they don't offer services for those with long hair. Quickly you find that full service hair salons aren't so full service after all. Then, you go to another beautician and they don’t know what to do either. Why is that? Some of the reasons hairstylists don’t offer “long hair” or updo service are that: 1. None of their clients typically have longer hair To the hairstylist, watching is easy. Once you become the one that has to do the work, it can quickly become confusing and spell disaster. It can be hard for a hairstylist to get and keep clients. If you are able to offer total hair services, including long hair, then you’ll be keeping new clients and encourage new ones too. If you want to practice before working with long hair on a client, getting a wig or mannequin can certainly help. When you are in-between appointments, this will give you the practice you need to have confidence in dealing with longer hair. Also, it allows you to display your work to your customers. If you are good at long hair, fantastic! You need to be the hairstylist that your competitors send their customers to. You can start by advertising that you do long hair. There are plenty that don’t do long hair and this approach may get you fresh clientele. Also, let the bridal shops know you are available, along with the formal dress shops. Girls and young women getting ready for prom and formal events always want fancy hairstyles. Offer your services free to the bridal show as a promotion for your business. This helps you gain more clients and gives the bridal shop a great advantage over competitors. Creating a photo album of the styles you've done on mannequins or clients in the past is also a great tool for getting prospective clients. It will definitely show prospective customers your talent and creativity level. You might also want to work with clothing store sduring special events or sales and offer your services at a discounted rate. Armed with a digital camera and a color copier, you can tap a whole new source of clientele. Having your business cards displayed in bridal shops is also another great advertising tool. Complimentary cards are very good, too. You can offer a discount on the back of the card. When a client gets their hair done, then give them some cards to hand out when they are asked where they got such a cute hairstyle. This works especially well at high schools before proms and dances. Deciding what to charge for long hair services can be difficult depending on the style requested. In general, charging between $5 and $10 above normal rates is usually considered acceptable. Be prudent in your pricing as if you get a client that will only require 15 minutes for a braid or a quick updo, then you may not want to charge more.
